On May 3, 2025, the CCT Towers residence at Tshwane University of Technology hosted a vibrant event celebrating youthful expression and creativity. The event, themed around "Kofifi," brought together young people to showcase their fashion sense and individuality through clothing.

The event kicked off at 7 pm, at Towers Hall, filling the venue with energy and excitement. Music played a crucial role, with attendees grooving to the beats of 80s dance music, which drew in a large crowd excited to show off their dance moves. The room was alive with excitement showcasing youthful energy.

One of the highlights was the Sophiatown drama part, which brought attendees back to the 1950s and 1960s. The drama showcased life in Sophiatown, a Johannesburg suburb that was a hub of cultural and artistic expression during that era. The play was entertaining and thought provoking, offering a snapshot into the past while highlighting the progress South Africa has made.

“I really enjoyed being the participant in Sophiatown drama and bringing this piece of history to life”. Said one of the CCT Residence leader Thando Xaba who was playing the role of  Mamariti , a shebeen queen and owner of a house in Sophiatown. She also portrayed the mother of Mingus and Lulu.

The event was also helping most students by taking break from academics and having fun, this event shows that school is not only about academics but also fun even sometimes it can be tricky like riddles. Nxobile  Dlamini, first year student said “The highlight for me was seeing people express themselves freely through dance and also what I like about my outfit is that it reflected my personal style and creativity.  I felt confident and expressive wearing it”.

The event was not only entertaining but was about together young  creative and like-minded individuals, by providing a platform for self-expression as we look to future events like Koffi will continue to inspire and educate. Sthandiwe  sithole , who was also a participant in drama and dance stated that “It was unforgettable night for me, I enjoyed every moment, and I did not that people could be so creative people went all out for this event”.

The Kofifi event at Tswane University of Technology was a resounding success, highlighting the importance of creative outlets for young people. It was a night to remember, filled with laughter, music, and unforgettable moments.
