Kofifi event brings creativity at CCt residence
KOFIFI EVENT BRINGS CREATIVITY AT CCT RESIDENCE

On May 3, 2025, the CCT Towers residence at Tshwane
University of Technology hosted a vibrant event celebrating youthful expression
and creativity. The event, themed around "Kofifi," brought together
young people to showcase their fashion sense and individuality through
clothing.
The event kicked off at 7 pm, at Towers Hall, filling the
venue with energy and excitement. Music played a crucial role, with attendees grooving to the beats of
80s dance music, which drew in a large crowd excited to show off their dance
moves. The room was alive with
excitement showcasing youthful energy.
One of the highlights was the Sophiatown drama part, which brought attendees back to the 1950s and 1960s. The drama
showcased life in Sophiatown, a
Johannesburg suburb that was a hub of cultural and artistic expression during that era. The play was entertaining and thought provoking, offering a snapshot into the past while highlighting the progress South Africa has
made.
“I really enjoyed being the participant in Sophiatown drama and bringing this piece of history to life”. Said one of
the CCT Residence leader Thando Xaba who
was playing the role of Mamariti , a shebeen queen and owner of a
house in Sophiatown. She also portrayed the mother of Mingus and Lulu.
The event was also helping most students by taking break from academics and having fun, this event shows that
school is not only about academics but
also fun even sometimes it can be tricky like riddles. Nxobile Dlamini, first year student said “The
highlight for me was seeing people express themselves freely through dance and also what I like about my outfit is that it reflected my personal style and creativity. I felt confident and expressive wearing it”.
The event was not only entertaining but was about together young creative and like-minded individuals, by providing a platform for self-expression as we look to future
events like Koffi will continue to inspire and educate. Sthandiwe sithole , who was also a participant in drama
and dance stated that “It was unforgettable night for me, I enjoyed every moment, and I did not that
people could be so creative people went all out for this event”.
The Kofifi event at
Tswane University of Technology was a resounding success, highlighting the
importance of creative outlets for young people. It was a night to remember,
filled with laughter, music, and unforgettable moments.
